Dominic Casserley will serve as the next chief executive officer of global insurance broker Willis Group Holdings, effective Jan. 7, 2013.

Also, Steve Hearn, currently the chairman and CEO of Willis Global, will serve as deputy CEO and Joe Plumeri, who has served as chairman and CEO of Willis Group since 2000 and led the company back to public ownership and steered its global expansion during his 12-year tenure, will serve as non-executive chairman through July 2013.

Casserley currently is a senior partner of McKinsey & Co., which he joined in New York in 1983. Following a transition period in 2013, Casserley will be based in Willis’ New York office.

Hearn joined Willis as chairman and CEO of Glencairn Limited, the third-party wholesale brokerage business that Willis acquired through its $2.1 billion acquisition of Hilb Rogal & Hobbs (HRH) in 2008. In January 2012, Hearn was appointed chairman and CEO of Willis Global, encompassing the company’s global reinsurance, placement and specialty operations. Hearn will continue in that role in addition to his deputy CEO post.

Plumeri joined Willis as chairman and CEO in October 2000, following a 32-year career with Citigroup Inc. and its predecessors. Willis in 2000 was owned by private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR), but Plumeri successfully engineered an initial public offering within a year.

Linda T. Hummel has been named president of the Employer Group Division for Humana Inc. in Texas.

A 22-year veteran with Humana, Hummel will be responsible for the overall management and strategic planning for Humana’s statewide commercial operations and products, which include health maintenance organizations (HMO), preferred provider organizations (PPO), self-insured plans (ASO), point-of-service plans (POS), Group Medicare plans, specialty benefit products and HumanaVitality, a comprehensive health, wellness and loyalty solution.

Based in San Antonio, Hummel will report to Ken Malcolmson, chief executive officer of Humana’s West Region Employer Group Segment.

Hummel previously served as market president for commercial operations for Humana’s South Texas Region and Central Texas Region. Her responsibilities now expand to include the Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston markets as well as Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, El Paso, the Rio Grande Valley and Laredo.

Burns & Wilcox named John J. Karl as branch manager in Overland Park, Kan.

Karl will lead an expanding Burns & Wilcox office that specializes in solutions for hard-to-place risks. His office also serves Missouri and Oklahoma.

Karl comes to Burns & Wilcox after more than a decade with Zurich. Most recently Karl served as vice president, responsible for the marketing and brokerage of wholesale insurance products to a network of more than 215 producers.

TransUnion announced that Mark McElroy has joined the company as the new executive vice president of its insurance business unit.

TransUnion’s insurance business unit provides data and analytic offerings to insurance companies to assist with customer acquisition, underwriting and fraud prevention.

McElroy has 22 years of industry experience. He was previously CEO and president of the Balboa Insurance Group. Prior to his work with the Balboa, McElroy was the senior vice president, loan administration in the global home loans division for Countrywide Financial Corp.
