Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. has appointed Joe Kinsey to the position of high net worth personal insurance executive for the eastern zone. In his new role, Kinsey has full underwriting and distribution responsibility for the personal lines business focused on the high net worth market in the Eastern zone. Kinsey will be based in Tampa, Fla.

A 25-year veteran of the insurance industry, Kinsey has experience in underwriting, marketing, agency management, and field sales management. Most recently, Kinsey served as field underwriting officer of the private client segment at Chartis Insurance. Previously at Chartis he was responsible for marketing and agency management for their largest region. He has also been with Chubb, FJ Wilkes & Co. and Atlantic Mutual.

Richmond, Va.-headquartered Markel Corp. announced two executive promotions for its specialty division.

Chris Reichert has been promoted to managing director of sales and marketing for Markel Specialty. Reichert will be responsible for the tactical implementation of sales and marketing plans for Markel Specialty. He will focus primarily on the growth of business with retail agencies.

Reichert came to Markel as a result of the 2010 acquisition of FirstComp Insurance, a monoline workers’ compensation insurer. He has been serving as the primary business development link between Markel FirstComp and Markel Specialty. In his new role, Reichert will split his time between Markel’s Richmond headquarters and other offices.

Markel Corp. also promoted Denise Perlman to director of business development for Markel Specialty. Perlman’s primary focus will be managing national account agency relationships which include bank-owned agencies countrywide and assigned national and regional agencies.

With Markel for over 10 years, Perlman most recently held the position of business development specialist for the Mid-Atlantic region, focusing on strengthening retail agency relationships and growth in Virginia, Maryland, D.C., West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Perlman has held positions in marketing and sales during her tenure with Markel. She will be a member of the Markel Specialty senior sales group in her new role.

Mississippi Commissioner of Insurance Mike Chaney promoted two Mississippi Insurance Department personnel to key senior staff positions. Kimberly Gilmer Causey has been promoted to the position of general counsel and David Browning has been promoted to the position of director of the Financial and Market Regulation Division.

Causey, a native of Columbus, has been with the department’s legal division as a special assistant attorney general for 10 years. She has drafted legislation and served as a legislative liaison for seven years.

Browning, a native of Yazoo City, has been with the Financial and Market Regulation Division for 11 years. He was responsible for overseeing financial and market conduct examinations.

Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited announced that Mario Vitale, who has been serving as co-CEO of Aspen Insurance division alongside Rupert Villers, became the sole CEO of the division, effective July 1. Vitale also remains as president of Aspen U.S. Insurance. As the sole CEO of Aspen Insurance, Vitale will continue to develop, establish and execute Aspen Insurance’s business strategy and manage the day-to-day business of Aspen Insurance globally. He will also manage Aspen Insurance’s U.S. underwriting teams and its U.S. insurance operating platform in his continuing role as president of U.S. Insurance.

Villers, who has been serving as co-CEO of Aspen Insurance together with Vitale, has agreed to extend his service with Aspen until the end of 2014. He will now serve as chairman, supporting the execution of Aspen Insurance’s business strategy.
