Pawtucket, R.I.-based Narragansett Bay Insurance Company recently named Todd Hart as the new chief executive officer. Narragansett Bay founder Nick Steffey, who has stepped down from the CEO role, will continue as executive chairman. As the new CEO, Hart will be responsible for leading the management team in assuring underwriting effectiveness, risk management, production efficiency, quality service, and cost management. Most recently, Hart served as CEO of the Swiss-based Glacier Group.

Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited appointed Mario Vitale, who has been serving as co-CEO of Aspen Insurance division alongside Rupert Villers, as the sole CEO of the division. Vitale will also remain as president of Aspen U.S. Insurance. Vitale is based in New York but will spend a good amount of time in London overseeing Aspen’s insurance segment globally. Villers, who has been serving as co-CEO of Aspen Insurance together with Vitale, will extend his service with Aspen until the end of 2014. He will serve as chairman of Aspen Insurance division.

New York-headquartered Marsh & McLennan Companies appointed Rian Miller as general counsel of Mercer, a human resource consulting subsidiary. Miller was most recently with Towers Watson, where she served as managing counsel for risk and litigation since 2010. Also, Marsh & McLennan said its Oliver Wyman management consulting unit appointed Ana Kreacic as chief knowledge officer. Kreacic has 11 years of experience consulting to North American and European technology clients.

Switzerland-headquartered Allied World Assurance Company Holdings AG appointed Michael Conroy as vice president for its newly launched U.S. construction casualty division. Prior to joining Allied World, he was vice president in the home office of construction risk management at AIG. He will be based in Allied World’s New York office and will report to Lou Iglesias, president of U.S. P/C business. Iglesias, also a former AIG executive, joined Allied World earlier this year.

American International Group last month appointed Laurette Koellner to the newly created role of executive chairman for its aircraft-leasing unit, International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC). In this role, Koellner becomes the most senior executive officer of ILFC and reports to AIG CEO Robert Benmosche. ILFC’s CEO Henri Courpron now reports to Koellner. Koellner has been serving as an independent director of AIG since June 2009.

Roanoke, Va.-based Rutherfoord, a Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC (MMA) company, appointed Guy Morrison as executive vice president of employee benefits. Morrison most recently served as president and CEO of Strategic Benefit Solutions (SBS), a Georgia-based benefits brokerage and consulting firm that Rutherfoord/MMA acquired in January 2011.

Greenwich, Conn.-headquartered W.R. Berkley Corp. appointed Andrew Tuma as president of Berkley Surety Group in Morristown, N.J. Tuma, who joined Berkley Surety in 2007, has over 25 years of experience in the P/C industry. He served most recently as the company’s executive vice president and chief operating officer.

GEICO, a Chevy Chase, Md.-headquartered auto insurance unit of Berkshire Hathaway, appointed Rick Hoagland as vice president of claims based in the home office. He succeeds Nancy Pierce, who was recently named regional vice president in GEICO’s Fredericksburg, Va., office. Hoagland was most recently vice president of underwriting in the Macon, Ga. office.
