John M. Anderson and Steven E. Herman have been named officers of the Utica Mutual Insurance Co., the principal member of Utica National Insurance Group.
Anderson, who serves as director of Alternate Markets Development and works out of Utica National’s Founders Insurance location in Illinois, was named vice president.He also was appointed as an officer of Founders Insurance.
Anderson joined the company in 2012. He has 20 years of experience and previously served in several capacities with Allstate Insurance Co., most recently as director of marketing (specialty lines). He holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter professional designation.
Herman, associate general counsel in Utica National’s Legal department, was named assistant vice president. He joined the company in 2012 with more than 13 years of legal experience. He has headed his own law practice and served as regulatory counsel for the Ohio Department of Insurance. Before joining Utica National, Herman was assistant general counsel for Nationwide Mutual in Columbus, Ohio.
Carl E. Dohn, Jr., president of Dohn & Maher Associates, a Palatine, Ill., insurance agency, has been installed as the president of the National Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP).
Dohn has 37 years of experience in the industry. He began his surety career at Safeco Insurance Co. and later worked as a producer in a local agency before starting his own independent insurance agency.
Dohn serves as a member of the NASBP board of the directors, Surety Information Office Policy board and NASBP membership committee.
Itasca, Ill.-based Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. appointed Eric C. Dean, Jerome S. Hanner and Cara Richardson as corporate vice presidents.
Dean joined the company in 2012 and has more than 30 years of business experience in various key technology functions. He began his career at Arthur Andersen, now Accenture. Most recently, he worked for Liquidity Services Inc.
Hanner joined the company in 2004 and has more than 30 years of experience serving in various legal and business capacities for large, international insurance brokerage firms. Since 2010, he has served as the company’s deputy general counsel.
Richardson joined the company in 2005 and has more than 20 years of financial and insurance business experience. She began her career at Ernst & Whinney, now Ernst & Young. Most recently, she was the vice president of sourcing for Aon Corp. Richardson is a Certified Public Accountant.
Great American Insurance Group, headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, has expanded the responsibilities of three key executives in its Trucking Division,
Randal Smith, currently vice president of the Trucking Division’s Western Profit Center, assumes the role of divisional product and underwriting officer. Smith will also manage the division’s Captive and Dealer/Lender Profit Centers. He has been with Great American’s Trucking Division for more than 12 years.
Rob Parrett is now the Trucking Division’s national marketing manager, responsible for the division’s relationship with its 125-member agency force. He has more than 23 years of experience in the trucking and transportation industries. Prior to joining Great American in 2002, Parrett worked with Transportation Insurance Specialists, a Florida-based MGA, for 11 years.
Tim Clinton oversees both the Eastern and Western Profit Centers as divisional vice president. Clinton has served Great American’s Trucking Division for more than 14 years in a variety of roles, including business developer, product manager and marketing/underwriting manager. He holds the CPCU designation.
