Lloyd’s of London has appointed Rodney Smith to serve as the regional director for Lloyd’s newly established Southeast region. Smith will be based in Atlanta, Georgia and be responsible for market development in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama and Mississippi.
Smith has 20 years of experience including serving as a vice president of Lloyd’s ICAT syndicate, vice president of the southeast region of the Bermuda-based XL Capital, and national director of alternative market products for the New York-based AIG Ins. Co.
Lloyd’s has underwriters licensed in Kentucky, Illinois and the U.S. Virgin Island.
Jacksonville, Florida-based Main Street America Group has promoted David Medvidofsky to vice president and head of its audit unit. Previously, Medvidofsky was an assistant vice president of corporate strategy who was responsible for Main Street’s long-term corporate planning, enterprise risk management and business continuity processes. Medvidofsky originally joined the company in 1991 serving as a personal lines underwriter for five years. After pursuing other interests, he rejoined the company in 1997 as a regional underwriting manager.
Dan Donovan has bee named the new chief executive officer at Atlanta-based broker Beecher Carlson.
Tom Golub will step down as CEO and will remain as the chairman of Beecher Carlson.
Donovan is an industry veteran with 30 years of experience. He has been with Beecher Carlson since 2005. Prior to joining Beecher Carlson, he served in a senior leadership role at HRH, which has since been acquired by Willis. At HRH, Donovan was responsible for the $100 million operations of the former Hobbs Group. Prior to the HRH acquisition, Donovan was the operations manager and the global property manager for the Hobbs Group.
Beecher Carlson has also expanded its National Manufacturing Team with the appointment of Bill Lenhart as managing director. Lenhart will operate from Beecher Carlson’s corporate headquarters in Atlanta. Lenhart will be working directly with Greg Myers, Beecher Carlson’s leader of the National Manufacturing Practice.
Prior to joining Beecher Carlson, Lenhart served as managing director of Aon Risk Services Inc., where he dealt with complex casualty, large account property, executive liability and alternative risk programs.
Marsh has named Anthony Mastrolia leader of construction risk management within its U.S. construction practice. He will be responsible for generating new construction business in Marsh’s middle-market and large account segments.
Mastrolia is a 35-year veteran of the insurance and risk management industry, primarily in the construction sector. Mastrolia joins Marsh from Aon, where he was a managing director and national broking officer in the firm’s Construction Services Group. Prior to that role, he was a managing director in Aon’s Greater New York Construction practice.
Admiral Insurance Co. has named Stephen Jones as its new vice president of professional liability in the insurer’s Atlanta, Georgia office. Domiciled in Delaware and with administrative offices in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, the excess and surplus lines insurer also writes on a non-admitted basis in all 50 states plus Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Gresham and Associates Insurance Brokers has announced that Debbie Sizer, long-time branch manager of the firm’s West Palm Beach, Florida office has retired after 26 years with the firm.
