Rolling Meadows, Ill.-based C. W. Olson and Co., an affiliate of the full-service insurance brokerage firm Associated Agencies Inc., promoted Matthew Meliker to executive vice president and in-house counsel.

Meliker, a resident of Itasca, Ill., has practiced law since May 2001, and joined C.W. Olson and Company in 2004. He holds an MBA with a concentration in corporate law and serves on the board of directors for Benefit Security Insurance Co.

Associated Agencies Inc. has promoted Joshua B. Herz, of Chicago to senior vice president. As Associated Agencies’ senior vice president, Herz will continue to maintain his client base, and will actively mentor new salespeople within the company. He has been with Associated Agencies for six years.

The American Insurance Marketing & Sales Society has elected new officers and directors.

James P. Gosselink, owner and principal of Tulip City Agency, an eight-person multi-line agency in Pella, Iowa, will lead the group as president.

Other officers are: Vice President Curtis M. Pearsall, vice president of New York-based Utica National Insurance Co.; Secretary Mike Herzak, president and CEO of Insurance Systems Group of Cleveland, Ohio; Treasurer Marty Lebson, principal and vice president of Insurance Resource Group, part of The Capacity Group, Mahwah, N.J.; and Immediate Past President Ronald D. Stauffer, vice president of Phelan Insurance Agency, headquartered in Versailles, Ohio.

Directors elected to new three-year terms include: George A. Zelhof, owner and producer for United Assurance Inc., Fair Lawn, N.J.; Keith A. Savino, chief operating officer for Warwick Resource Group, of Warwick, N.Y.; Richard H. Dygve, principal and vice president for Johnson & Strachan Insurance Agency, Fairfax, Va.; Philip R. Bogle, president of Bogle Agency Inc., in Lyndhurst, N.J.; and Ronald D. Stauffer.

The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. appointed Juan Andrade as president and chief operating officer of its Property and Casualty Operations. Andrade will continue to report directly to the company’s chairman and chief executive officer, Ramani Ayer, and will serve as a member of the Office of the Chairman.

Andrade has been serving as the interim P/C co-leader of The Hartford’s Property and Casualty Operations since February 2009.

Minneapolis, Min.-based medical professional liability insurance company, Midwest Medical Insurance Company (MMIC), has promoted Lori Trygg to assistant vice president of Law and Health Policy. She will continue to serve as associate general counsel and compliance office for the company.

Trygg joined MMIC as an attorney in 2001. She has more than 24 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industry. Prior to MMIC, Trygg served as corporate counsel and assistant corporate secretary for MSI Insurance and worked as a claim manager for a Minnesota subsidiary of Mutual of Omaha.

MMIC serves the Upper Midwest. It provides coverage to physicians, clinics, facilities and hospitals in Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska and Wisconsin.

Liberty Mutual Agency Markets’ Regional Companies Group has appointed three vice presidents to its commercial lines product management team.

Aswin Krishnan will manage the workers’ compensation line of business. Most recently, he was vice president of commercial lines product development for The Hartford.

Tiffany Reiner will manage the businessowners and farm lines of business. She was formerly product manager for Commercial Lines Product Management at Agency Markets.

John Vrijmoet will manage the commercial auto line of business.

The Travelers Cos. Inc. named Anne MacDonald as executive vice president, chief marketing officer. MacDonald will have responsibility for the company’s marketing, brand management and advertising strategy, and she will serve on the company’s management committee.

As it relates to corporate marketing and advertising, MacDonald will work with Corporate Communications & Branding and will report to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jay Fishman.

At the business unit level, MacDonald will provide marketing and advertising oversight for all three of the company’s business segments, with a particular focus on Personal Insurance’s branding and customer experience. In her role in Personal Insurance, MacDonald will report to Executive Vice President Doreen Spadorcia, who leads Personal Insurance.

Most recently, MacDonald was a partner with The Rockefeller Consulting Group. Prior to that, she served as the president and chief marketing officer of Macy’s Inc. after serving as the chief marketing officer for Citigroup’s consumer division.

Clements International, a Washington, D.C.-based provider of global insurance solutions, has named J. Christopher Beck president. Beck was previously senior vice president of the company.

Beck has led the sales divisions of Clements International since 2000. With more than 20 years of insurance experience, he was responsible for the design of key insurance programs tailored to the needs of international organizations and the expatriate community.
