Greg Thompson, president and chief executive officer of Thomco, is the new president of the Target Markets Program Administrators Association, a national organization serving program managers.
Thomco, headquartered in metro-Atlanta, was established in 1977 and has been an MGA focused on program business since the early 1980s. In 1979, Greg Thompson joined the firm after two years in New York with Marsh and McLennan. Since then, he has served as president of Thomco.
Phyllis Hanesworth, senior claims representative for the Liverpool, N.Y., office of American International Group Inc., was named the Insurance Person of Distinction during the 46th annual Syracuse Insurance Day Conference recently. Central New York’s largest insurance event recognized Hanesworth for her work and contributions both professionally and civically. Hanesworth’s insurance career began with Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co., where she served as a legal negotiator and in management positions. After 20 years, Hanesworth left Nationwide for Wausau Insurance. She is a member of the Syracuse Insurance Professionals, elected its president in 1994 and Insurance Woman of the Year, 1995. In her community, she has been actively involved in the local chapters of the NAACP, the Urban League, and the United Way of Central New York.
Workers’ compensation administrator First Cardinal LLC has hired several new employees at its Latham, N.Y., headquarters.
Stacy Anuszewski, of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., has joined the claims department as claims representative. She had been an intern with First Cardinal prior to being hired.
Matthew Grant, of West Sand Lake, N.Y., has joined the underwriting department as line underwriter.
Catherine Interlicchio, of Rotterdam, N.Y., has joined the claims department as claims representative.
David Mazzotta, of Niskayuna, N.Y., has joined the accounting department as junior accountant. He was most recently employed as a customer service representative with Trustco Bank in Schenectady, N.Y.
Joseph Montinieri, of Stillwater, N.Y., has joined the risk management department as senior risk management associate. He was formerly employed by Bureau Veritas NATLSCO, a health, safety and environment management company in Lake Zurich, Ill.,
Katie Neville, of Albany, N.Y., has joined the underwriting department as renewal underwriter.
James R. Teta, of Troy, N.Y., has joined the claims department as claims assistant. Prior to joining First Cardinal, Teta was employed by WTEN News-10 as an editor of the morning news program.
Eric Wasserbach, of Colonie, N.Y., has joined the claims department as trust manager. Prior to joining First Cardinal, Wasserbach most recently served as regional manager of the Albany office of Special Funds Conservation Committee, a New York City-based workers’ compensation company.
First Cardinal LLC administers 23 self-insurance groups that provide workers’ compensation coverage in New York State, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Texas. An additional 7,000 businesses throughout the Northeast are covered through an affiliate, CardinalComp LLC.
Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc. announced that John T. Sinnott, vice chairman, office of the CEO, will retire effective Dec. 31, 2006. Sinnott has held his current position since July 1, 2005, when he re-joined MMC after a period of retirement. He was also a director of Marsh Inc. from June 2005 through December 2005 and chairman and chief executive officer of Marsh Inc. from 1999 to December 2002 and chairman of Marsh until his retirement in July 2003. He joined MMC’s predecessor company, Marsh & McLennan Inc., in 1963, and held various executive positions with the company including CEO of J&H Marsh & McLennan Inc. and CEO of Marsh & McLennan Inc.
“Three and a half years after his originally planned retirement and after more than 43 years of service to Marsh & McLennan, Jack Sinnott has decided to ‘re-retire’ at the end of this year,” said Mike Cherkasky, president and chief executive officer of MMC.
The Insurance Agents and Brokers of Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland, which represents more than 1,650 insurance agencies, announced its new board members for the upcoming 2006-07 term. In addition to appointing board members to oversee the service group, chair and vice chairmen were also appointed for each state association.
For IA&B of Maryland, the service group elected Tony L. Bennett, of Churchville, Md., as chairman for the 2006-07 term. He is owner/manager of Famous & Spang Associates of Aberdeen, Md. G. Kevin Nemith, of CNC Insurance Associates, Inc. of Dover, Del., has been named as the organization’s vice chairman. Nemith will also serve as the Delaware Association chairman. He is president of CNC Insurance Associates of Dover. Outgoing chairman, John Collins of Bloomsburg, Pa., will serve as the immediate past chairman. Collins owns and operates Collins Insurance Inc. in Bloomsburg.
For IA&B of Pennsylvania, Frank R. Cosner Jr., of New Hope was elected chairman for the 2006-07 term. He is a partner at The Pidcock Agency in New Hope. Thomas G. McElhaney, of State College, was elected vice chairman for the 2006-07 term. He is the personal lines manager of Frost & Conn Inc. of State College.
For IA&B of Pennsylvania board members, Norman F. Basso, of York was elected to the board of directors for the 2006-09 term. He is chief operating officer and executive vice president of E.K. McConkey & Co. Inc. in York. Robert B. Hall, of West Chester was elected to the board of directors for the 2006-09 term. He is president of Francis Hall Insurance & Risk Management Services in West Chester.
For IA&B of Maryland, Linda A. McCann, of Salisbury, was elected chairman for the 2006-07 term. She is president of the Bay Shore Insurance Inc. of Salisbury. Connie Phillips, of Frederick, was elected vice chairman for the 2006-07 term. She is president of Connie Phillips Insurance.
Michael A. Guarino has been promoted to vice president at TD Banknorth Insurance Agency Inc. in Bedford, N.H. He will continue to be responsible for selling commercial insurance lines to middle market companies throughout southern New Hampshire. Guarino joined TD Banknorth in 2002.
