Susan Alford has been named executive vice president and southeast region head for Aon Consulting in Atlanta. The promotion is effective Jan. 1. Alford will be responsible for Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida.

In the 28 years that Alford has worked with Aon Consulting, she has served in a number of key positions, including, most recently, as the head of the firm’s Atlanta office and national defined contribution practice leader. Alford’s expertise includes working with plan sponsors in the design, implementation and administration of defined contribution plans including 401(k) and ESOPs. She has also been responsible for the development and marketing of Aon’s integrated retirement services, working with alliance partners.

In her new role, Alford will be responsible for account management and business development throughout the region. Key aspects of this responsibility include working with southeast region clients and prospective clients, and facilitating the ongoing development of distinctive, value-added services that meet their needs. She will also have responsibility for talent management in the region.

Michael Ryan has been named vice president of the Southeast Account Management Division of Specialty Risk Services of Hartford, Conn.

Ryan will be based in Atlanta and will oversee the account management team in the Southeastern region of the country and foster broker and client relationships in his territory. Additionally, he will oversee account retention for the region and identify additional areas of business opportunities.

Ryan has extensive account management experience. Prior to joining SRS, he was an account executive for Sedgwick Claims Management Services in Philadelphia. He also has held various operations positions at American Financial Group and Liberty Mutual.

SRS is a property/casualty third-party administrator for workers’ compensation and general liability claims. It also provides auto, general and product liability, integrated disability, claim administration and risk management services nationwide.

Henry Pippins has been named vice president, Commercial Lines for the Main Street America Group in Jacksonville, Fla.

Pippins will report to Bob Restrepo, senior vice president of Insurance Operations and be based at the organization’s corporate headquarters in Jacksonville. He replaces Joe Grauwiler, who was named the company’s regional vice president, Jacksonville Region, earlier this year.

Pippins will be responsible for all product development, underwriting standards, pricing processes and compliance for our full portfolio of Commercial Lines products and coverages.

Pippins is also responsible for ensuring the continued profitability and growth of Main Street America’s commercial lines business.

Pippins joins Main Street America from CNA Financial in Chicago, where he was vice president of Small Business Operations, a $700 million business. Previously, he had increasing levels of responsibility at The Hartford, where he worked for more than 15 years in its Small Business unit. During his tenure at The Hartford, Pippins held a wide range of home office and regional responsibilities. He began his career with Aetna as a property underwriter.

Jeffrey T. Bowman, president of Crawford & Co’s International Operations, has been named chief operating officer of the firm’s Global Property and Casualty Services. The promotion was effective Jan. 1.

This newly created position joins the property and casualty operations worldwide to maximize consistent delivery and to ensure that Crawford provides standardized business practices and quality service delivery to all of its property and casualty clients worldwide. Bowman will also oversee business development as it relates to the property and casualty market.

Bowman has been assigned to evaluate and improve how Crawford & Co. packages and sells its property and casualty services globally, making certain it is consistent and consultative in its approach. Bowman has a history of success, coupled with experience, leadership ability and vision.

Bowman joined Crawford in 1990 after it purchased a company he partly owned. From 1991 to 1994, Bowman served as financial director for all of Crawford’s operations outside the U.S. He was involved in strategic acquisitions and Crawford’s global coverage increased significantly. In 1995, Bowman moved from London to Crawford’s home office in Atlanta, and was appointed as vice president of International Finance.

Bowman was subsequently named vice president of International Strategic Planning of Crawford’s International Group. In 2001, Bowman was appointed president of Crawford’s International Operations, a position he has held until now.

Michael A. Reali has been promoted to sales manager of CHOICE Medical Management Services in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Reali assumes a new leadership position created to help drive CHOICE’s growth in Florida and the southeast region. With more than eight years experience in the sales of managed health services and insurance, Reali joined CHOICE one year ago as an account executive. He was previously a Tampa area sales manager for GENEX Services Inc.
