Luke J. Nolan Jr., director of Aon Construction Services Group, was elected president of the Dallas/Fort Worth chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA). His election marks the first time in the association’s 20-year history an insurance broker has ascended to the position of president. He will serve a one-year term.

As a national director at Aon Construction Services Group, Nolan is responsible for strategic planning, marketing and administrative functions related to Contractor Default Insurance.

In addition to serving as local chapter president of CFMA, Nolan is a member of the organization’s national Construction Industry Liaison Committee. He is also on the Associated General Contractors Employee Compensation Committee for the highway sector and is active with the Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. North Texas Legislative Committee. Nolan also is a member of QUOIN, the North Texas chapter of Associated General Contractors. He is a licensed insurance agent in the state of Texas and a non-resident agent in more than 25 states.

New Orleans-based Pan-American Life Insurance Company appointed Camilo J. Salazar as executive vice president for Distribution, Marketing and Product Management.

Salazar has more than 30 years of management and actuarial experience in Latin America, Europe, the Far East and the Caribbean. Previously, he has worked as a principal, responsible for Latin America, with Milliman Inc. and with The Principal Financial Group, where he was responsible for developing and managing the company’s expansion in Latin America and Europe. He also worked as chief actuary for a subsidiary of American International Group with responsibilities for operations in the Caribbean, Spain, Portugal and other European countries.

North Texas-based general agency The Combined Group (CIA), named Michael Hardin as vice president of Sales and Marketing for the entire organization. A graduate of North Texas State University with a degree in Insurance, Hardin was most recently in charge of sales at one of Combined’s subsidiary companies.

The Combined Group also announced the addition of Stan Opie, who will assume senior nonsubscription underwriting responsibilities, working with a seasoned team of nonsubscriber specialists.

Opie’s background has been in both the carrier and agency settings, primarily in the areas of industrial accident coverage. As a past executive with several specialty organizations, he has served as a vice president, underwriting manager and marketing director with the most recent four years focused on the Texas nonsubscription market.

His experience spans over the last 32 years and he brings a reputation for providing agencies and their customers a well-rounded, competitive insurance product that is designed to serve the needs of the commercial client.

Mullis Newby Hurst LP, a writer of construction surety bonds in Texas, named Troy R. Key as senior account executive. He will be a producer for both bonds and insurance.

Key’s successful surety career includes 12 years as a surety underwriter and bond manager with national insurance companies. He has earned the designation Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB) and has a BBA from Texas A&M University.

Key will be located in Mullis Newby Hurst’s Dallas office at 16600 Dallas Parkway, Suite 300.

The Independent Insurance Agents of Texas elected three new members to the association’s board of directors during the recent 108th Conference & Trade Show in Austin. Steve Davis of GBS Insurance in Bellaire; Donna McCain Milnor of the Luhn-McCain Agency in San Antonio; and David (Woody) Wood of Bogan, Dunlap & Wood Agency in Odessa, begin three-year terms Sept. 1.

Davis is vice president of GBS Insurance Agency Inc. He is one of two stockholders in GBS, which is also a member of the Combined Agents of America LLC (CAA).

Davis has been an active member of the Houston Big “I,” having served on the IIAJC Committee for the past eight years. Prior local association experience includes service on the membership committee, Houston Big “I” Day Committee, and the Recreation committee among others. In 1997 he was invited to serve on the board of directors, a five-year commitment. At the end of that service he was invited to go through the chairs and he spent three more years in leadership positions.

Davis has also served on a number of state-level Big “I” committees, including the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas Junior Golf Tournament Committee. In 1999 he was national committee chair for the golf tournament when the event was held in Houston. Davis is also an active member of many civic and community organizations.

Milnor is executive vice president of Luhn-McCain Insurance Agency. Her role in the agency began in 1989 as an Aetna Prime Agent, focusing chiefly on personal lines sales.

In the early 1990s, Milnor helped develop and manage Anchor Insurance, a wholly owned subsidiary of Luhn-McCain, to provide insurance assistance for difficult or hard to place risks. Today her focus is commercial lines production and the development of niche markets for the agency.

In addition to holding the ACSR designation in both personal lines and commercial lines, plus the CIC, Milnor is currently enrolled in the CPCU and CRM courses of study.

She has been an active member in the Independent Insurance Agents of San Antonio, having served as president in 1998. She served on the board of directors from 1993 to 1999. Her experience with the local association also includes serving as chair for the annual fundraising event and the finance committee.

Milnor recently served as chair of IIAT’s Committee on Accredited Customer Service Representatives. She also was a member of the Young Agent Association Committee.

In addition to volunteer work with numerous insurance professional entities she also has extensive experience with community and other professional organizations including the Texas Association of Residential Service Providers, the Texas Association of Child & Family Services and the Texas Transportation Association.

Wood is vice president and partner, Bogan, Dunlap & Wood Insurance in Odessa. The agency was formed in 1989 when Wood and Shelby Bogan of the then Shelby Bogan Insurance Agency in Odessa became partners. In 1997 the two bought Dunlap Insurance Associates in Odessa and formed the present agency.

Prior to his association with Bogan, Wood owned David Wood & Associates, an agency in Midland, from 1986 through 1989. He began his insurance career working for United General Insurance Agency in Midland. He was a bank examiner for the state after earning a BBA in Business Management from Texas Tech in 1977.

Wood was president of his local Big “I” association in the late ’80s and has been an active member of IIAT committees including service twice on the Committee on Finance. His professional experience also includes service on numerous company/agent advisory councils, including Texas Mutual.

Neville Weston has joined Guy Carpenter & Co.‘s Bermuda office as a senior vice president in its casualty specialty practice.

He was previously with Converium Ltd. in Bermuda, where he was vice president of U.S. casualty treaty underwriting. Prior to Converium, he was with Converium Re in New York as vice president of specialty casualty treaty underwriting and was a casualty treaty underwriter with Zurich Reinsurance in London.
