Richard Kingsley, owner of Stayton, Ore.-based Cammack-Kingsley Insurance Inc., has been elected president of the Professional Insurance Agents of Oregon/Idaho. He served as president-elect of the organization prior to becoming president. Kingsley, an insurance agent for 29 years, purchased Cammack Insurance Inc. (now Cammack-Kingsley) in 1995. Kingsley recently purchased the Davis-Darley Insurance Agency and relocated to 318 N. 3rd Avenue in Stayton.
Irvine, Calif.-based SullivanCurtisMonroe Insurance Brokerage has appointed Jonathon S. Aslay as vice president. Aslay will specialize in insurance for manufacturing, oil & gas construction, and environmental businesses as well as in professional liability exposures. Aslay has 18 years of experience in the insurance industry. He previously spent three years with J. Gregory Brown & Co. Inc., in Los Angeles. Prior to that, he was a principal at Dodge, Warren & Peters Insurance Services Inc., in Torrance, Calif.
Jodi Coloma, a 16-year accounting veteran, and Gina Crow, an insurance executive with 24 years of experience in the industry, have joined subsidiaries of Concord, Calif.-based Jenkins Athens Group in senior level positions.
Coloma has joined as the new controller of Jenkins Athens Insurance Services, of Concord, Calif. Coloma was previously assistant controller, financial shared services operations, for Kaiser Permanente, in Oakland, for four years.
Crow joined as the new vice president of employee benefits of Athens Benefits Insurance Services, and will work out of the firm’s Sacramento office at 1455 Response Road. Crow will provide employee benefits consulting and sales to corporations and businesses in the Sacramento area and throughout Northern California. She spent 21 years with Calco Insurance Brokers and Agents in Sacramento, where she was a vice president and managed the national employee benefits program of the American Electronics Association.
Jonathan Wills has joined Lemac & Associates Inc. Wills will be an assistant vice president with the responsibility of further enhancing Lemac’s casualty capabilities and expanding its client base. He will be based in Lemac’s Orange, Calif., office and will concentrate on his specialties, including construction, real estate, public entities, products and healthcare. Wills spent the last two years at another Los Angeles area wholesaler. Prior to that he was with Chubb for three years in its national accounts casualty department. He began his career with Hartford Insurance in Hartford’s Connecticut branch office and accepted transfers with ever increasing responsibilities to other branch offices in Texas and eventually in California.
Chatsworth, Calif.-based The Harry W. Gorst Co. has announced several management promotions.
Effective immediately, John Curtin has been promoted to senior vice president and COO. Since he joined the firm in 1996, Curtin has steadily been moving into the automation field and was instrumental in overseeing the installation of the new agency management system. He previously served as personal lines manager at Gorst. In his new role as COO, he will liaison with all the departments to ensure faster and more efficient service to the agency base.
Bryan Clark has been named vice president. Additionally, he will take over Curtin’s former responsibilities as personal lines manager. Clark has spearheaded the growth of the personal lines department since he came to work for the Gorst organization back in 1997 as underwriter/trainee. Clark will continue to service his accounts, solicit new agents and will oversee the personal lines department.
Jennifer Clark has also been named vice president of human resources and communications. Clark will continue to manage marketing, advertising and communications and will also assist the human resources department. She joined the firm in 1996 and has been instrumental in building the commercial lines department.
ABD Insurance and Financial Services announced the addition of Brian A. Duke as managing director, general business practice leader in its Redwood City, Calif., headquarters. In his new position as a managing director for ABD, Duke will drive new business production and client service initiatives across the wide range of industries served by ABD’s General Business Practice. Duke joins ABD from Marsh’s Central Texas operation, where as sales leader he managed the company’s business development team and established service teams for new clients. Prior to joining Marsh, he served as an account executive at one of the largest independent brokers in the Bay Area, working mainly with technology and life sciences companies. He began his insurance career in 1986 as a claim adjuster with Aetna Casualty & Surety.
Pasadena, Calif.-based Western Security Surplus Insurance announced the promotion of Esmeralda Temores to the position of production underwriter. Temores has been a member of the Pasadena team for nearly four years. She began her insurance career at WSS as a policy typist while she earned her bachelor’s degree at UCLA. She was eventually promoted to underwriter before becoming production underwriter.
The Executive Liability Division of Great American Insurance Group, a Schaumburg, IL-based D&O and other professional liability underwriting facility, named Paul J. Dillon as underwriting unit manager and head of ELD’s San Diego branch office. Dillon joined Great American Insurance Group in 1997 and the Executive Liability Division in 2000. He has over six years of underwriting experience. Prior to working in the insurance industry, Dillon practiced corporate and immigration law.
London American General Agency Inc. in San Diego announced the addition of Vicki Larry as an underwriter broker to its expanding California operation. She has previously served in positions at Arrowhead Brokerage in San Diego and CRC in Los Angeles. Orange, Calif.-based CalSurance Inc., a a division of Brown and Brown Inc., announced that Lisa Rush has joined the company’s sales team. She has more than 23 years of experience in the industry. Prior to CalSurance, Rush was a program underwriter at Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, a sales professional at Marsh, the lead e-Business solutions specialist at IVANS and vice president of sales and marketing at CAIR Systems, an insurance software company.
Torrance, Calif.-based Keenan & Associates announced the appointment of Dale E. Bonner to its Advisory Board to help bolster its strategy and provide insight into the public sector marketplace. Bonner was formerly the commissioner of the California Department of Corporations (1998-1999). As commissioner, he regulated California’s managed care industry and served as one of the Governor’s chief policy advisors and spokesperson regarding managed care and business regulations. Prior to being appointed commissioner, Bonner had oversight of the Department of Corporations as Deputy Secretary and General Counsel of the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency from 1996 to 1997. Prior to that, he served as deputy legal affairs secretary to the Governor. Bonner’s career spans more than 13 years of dedication to the state of California. He was designated the Schwarzenegger Transition Team’s point person on matters relating to Business, Transportation and Housing Agency, which includes the Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) and several other business regulatory departments. Bonner is a partner at the Los Angeles office of Epstein Becker & Green. His practice area is regulatory compliance and transactional matters on behalf of managed care payors and providers.
ACE INA, a U.S.-based operating division of the ACE Group of Companies, announced that Karen Gordon, vice president and manager of filing and regulatory services for ACE INA, has been elected to the board of trustees of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society. An active PLUS member, Gordon has previously served in a number of leadership roles for PLUS. Since 2002, she has been a member of the national PLUS Education Committee, which is responsible for organizing the society’s annual conference and supporting regional events. She is the chair of the PLUS Mid-Atlantic Region Steering Committee, former vice chair and a steering committee member since 1999. In addition, she served as chair of PLUS’ Mid-Atlantic Region Education Committee in 1999 and 2000 and is a frequent speaker at national and regional PLUS conferences. Gordon joined ACE INA in 1999 as vice president and manager of product development, and has nearly 20 years of experience in the insurance field, including 16 years in professional liability disciplines. In her present role managing filing and regulatory services, Gordon is responsible for oversight of product filings and tracking of regulatory changes impacting ACE products.
