MaximFinancial, headquartered in Dickinson, Texas, appointed Corey Magliolo to the position of executive director of financial services. A Dickinson native, Magliolo has served the organization as a financial advisor for more than two years, providing clients with planning and investment recommendations for general portfolio management, retirement planning, college planning and income and estate tax minimization. As executive director of financial services, Magliolo will add business planning and strategy to his scope of responsibilities, while managing a team of 10. Prior to joining MaximFinancial, Magliolo worked as a client advisor with Merrill Lynch in Houston, providing planning and financial investment recommendations to a diverse clientele.

First Premium Insurance Group Inc. of Covington, La., a regional property and casualty insurance broker, announced its newest team members, Steven J. Weisgerber and Elizabeth W. Jenkins.

Weisgerber joined First Premium as personal lines underwriting manager. He comes to First Premium with over twenty years of underwriting experience, including five years of service with Patterson Insurance Company as property program manager. Managing general agency RSI International announced several new appointments in its Arlington, Texas office.

Nick Arenare has joined the office as claims manager. Arenare began his career with GAB in 1994 and has spent the past six years at Cunningham Lindsey as a Catastrophe Claims Manager. Arenare is responsible for the management of claims for RSI’s Texas accounts.

In addition, Shaniell Jones joined the Arlington office in the file room and Vickie Kirksey joined as a member of the policy-processing department.

U.S.I. Holdings Corporation appointed Robert Nesbit to the position of senior vice president and chief human resources officer. He will be based in USI’s corporate office in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. and will report to Bob Schneider, executive vice president & CFO. Before joining USI, Nesbit served as vice president, Global Staffing and Diversity, at Campbell Soup Company, where he created a corporate staffing function in collaboration with senior management and Human Resources leadership and facilitated the development of an integrated talent management model.

The Independent Insurance Agents of El Paso announced that William P. Manney, of Myron F. Steves & Company, was honored as the association’s 2003 James F. Elliott Award Recipient. Manney was selected by the IIA El Paso Board of Directors to receive this honor. IIA El Paso noted that Manney has dedicated many years of service to the association by supporting all its events and contributing monetarily to its Big “I” golf tournaments, installations, etc.

Mark Cantalamessa joined New Jersey-based Napco LLC as vice president and director of Claims & Risk Consulting, after a long and distinguished career with retail brokerage industry leader, Marsh Inc. Cantalamessa’s primary duties at Napco will include managing and overseeing the Claims and Risk Consulting disciplines, providing Napco’s clients with resources and services only found at the most sophisticated retail brokerage houses. He will also assist Napco in the property placement of their Fortune 5000 client base. Cantalamessa, who is CRI (Continuous Risk Improvement) certified, was with Marsh for 17 years, most recently as a vice president and Property Claims leader. For several years, he served in the company’s Risk Management Property and Casualty departments in a brokering capacity.

Lisa Williams was hired by InVEST as coordinator for the national office. Williams is an InVEST graduate and 1999 scholarship winner. In her new role, Williams will coordinate events, programs and informational requests for InVEST, a 501(c)3 educational trust and program that strengthens the insurance industry by developing a large pool of qualified recruits ready to assume entry level positions in the industry. Prior to joining InVEST, Williams conducted research for the United Nations Media Project and the World Bank’s Future Harvest Foundation. She also worked for CNN’s “Crossfire” program and Senator Bill Nelson (D-Fla.). Williams is no stranger to the insurance industry. Williams’ mother is an independent agent with Iler, Wall & Shonter in St. Petersburg, Fla.

XL Capital Ltd. appointed Paul S. Giordano—executive vice president, general counsel and secretary of the company—as president of Financial Solutions Operations with responsibility for XL Financial Solutions (XLFS). XLFS is an internal joint venture among the company’s insurance, reinsurance, and financial products and services segments, which provides alternative risk transfer products through tailored solutions, utilizing insurance and capital markets techniques Giordano joined XL in 1997 as senior vice president and general counsel. He was formerly in private legal practice in New York and London where he focused on general corporate law and financial transactions.
