TEXAS COMP NETWORKS EXPANDED, APPROVED

September 4, 2006

The Texas Department of Insurance recently approved the expansion of two existing workers’ compensation health care networks (HCN) and certified a number of new networks. At press time there were a total of 10 networks authorized.

Texas Mutual Insurance Company and Concentra both announced that expansion of their networks, Texas Mutual’s Texas Star Network and Concentra’s Health Care Network, were approved by TDI.

Texas Mutual said that with the expansion, its network is now available to approximately 85 percent of the company’s policyholders.

As a result of its service area expansion, Concentra’s HCN is now available in the areas of Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Lubbock, Amarillo, Corpus Christi, South Texas, and parts of East and Central Texas. The combined service area includes 149 counties representing 92 percent of the Texas workforce.

Texas Mutual partnered with Concentra to launch its Texas Star workers’ compensation health care network option last spring.

The Concentra HCN was originally certified in April 2006.

Other health care networks authorized by TDI include: Corvel Healthcare Corporation/Corcare; First Health/AIGCS TX HCN; First Health TX HCN; First Health/Travelers HCN; Genex Services Inc./Genex Health Care Network; International Rehabilitation Associates Inc./Intracorp; Liberty Mutual Managed Care Inc./Liberty Health Care Network; and Memorial Hermann Health Network Providers Inc./Worklink.
