JUA IN PA. FILES FOR RATE HIKE:
The Pennsylvania Professional Liability Joint Underwriting Association (JUA) has submitted a filing to the state insurance department to increase overall rates by 0.6 percent for non-institutional health care providers. The filing includes proposals to decrease the base rate by 8.0 percent for non-institutional health care providers; move 10 specialties from one class to another class; make various class changes including the addition of six new classes and the deletion of classes that are not currently used; change most class relativities; move 10 counties from one territory to another and change two territorial relativities. The JUA is also seeking approval to increase the base rates by 0.6 percent for institutional health care providers. Unless formal administrative action is taken prior to June 29, the rates maye be used effetctive Sept. 1.
