NEW HAMPSHIRE AUTO RULES:

A New Hampshire legislative panel with responsibility for reviewing regulatory changes has cleared the way for a streamlining of the state’s automobile insurance system. The Joint Legislative Committee on Administrative Rules on Jan. 20 let Regulation 1400, which was drawn up by the state insurance department, go forward without a vote. Among its administrative changes, the regulation clarifies rules on motorist eligibility and company participation in the high-risk reinsurance facility. It also sets forth conditions for assigning safe driver points and spells out residency requirements for insureds. The revised regulation must now be given an effective date, which an insurance department official estimated will be sometime in June or July.
