LILI, ISIDORE WREAK HAVOC IN LA.

October 14, 2002

Acting Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Robert Wooley estimated damages to his state from Hurricane Lili to be at least $170 million in insured losses but lowered estimated insured damages from Tropical Storm Isidore to between $65 million and $70 million. Those numbers are down from a previously projected $100 million. He said the heaviest losses from Hurricane Lili appeared to be in the Lafayette-New Iberia area, which suffered widespread damage. Wooley expected damage estimates from Lili to increase as more claims are filed.
