Parking and Valet Operators

Nuts & Bolts: USRisk Brokers, part of U.S. Risk Insurance Group, introduced a parking and valet operators program designed for businesses engaged in operations related to parking customers’ cars, such as self-parking garages and lots, assisted parking, valet and special events parking. Exposures can include parking operations at retail or office complexes, hotels, entertainment venues, restaurants, medical centers, high-rise residential facilities and airports, and extend to incidental operations, such as car washing, detailing and minor repairs; moving a customer’s vehicle to a repair facility for minor repairs; and basic concierge-type services such as luggage assistance or bellman operations. The program provides commercial general liability with additional broadened coverages, and garage keepers legal liability.

Dollars: GKLL – $250,000 per vehicle/$1 million per location/$5 million aggregate.

Financial Institutions Risk Protector

Nuts & Bolts: National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, Pa., introduced financial Institutions Risk Protector, a package of management and professional liability coverages for privately held financial institutions. Financial Institutions Risk Protector provides companies with the ability to bundle a number of essential management and professional liability coverages into one comprehensive policy, and offers a modular format for purchasing coverage, including: directors and officers liability; employment practices liability; fiduciary liability; errors and omissions liability for insurance companies and for banks; security and privacy liability; and employed lawyers liability.

Dollars: Up to $25 million, aggregate.

Small Business EPL Package

Nuts & Bolts: CNA has enhanced Epack, its management and professional liability package policy, to create Epack EZ. Targeting companies with less than 50 employees and $10 million in assets, Epack EZ offers a stand alone employment practice liability policy or combination EPL, directors and officers, and fiduciary policy. Epack EZ offers online applications to obtain quotes. Eligible policyholders also have access to a Web site devoted to managing employment exposures. Epack EZ offers a two-year policy term and a separate limit for defense cost. In addition, other standard policy enhancements include: a broad insured definition that includes domestic partners; a broad definition of covered wrongful employment practices; automatic coverage for third-party claims; punitive damages coverages; and independent contractor coverage.

Auto Physical Damage – Trucking

Nuts & Bolts: AIX Group Inc. formed a new program to provide automobile physical damage coverage to commercial trucking operations. This program will be targeting operations with above average loss experience and fleets between five and 75 units. Commercial light, medium, heavy and extra heavy trucks, tractors, trailers or semi-trailers up to 10 years old may be insured. AIX Group will source this business through agents with a minimum of $100,000 in controlled APD premiums in the trucking sector.

D&O for Small Public Companies

Nuts & Bolts: The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies introduced specialized directors and officers liability enhancements for publicly traded companies with market capitalizations of $100 million or less that can be added to Chubb’s D&O liability insurance policy. Some small public company customers may also be eligible to receive Chubb’s new non-rescindable endorsement. Coverage highlights include: independent directorship liability, offering up to an additional $1 million of coverage outside the D&O liability insurance policy limit; amended exclusionary conduct wording that requires final adjudication to establish fraud and illegal personal profit; a definition of “claim” enabling the policy to be triggered if an insured is investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission, U.S. Department of Justice or similar regulatory/law enforcement authority. The new non-rescindable endorsement is designed to preserve coverage for directors and officers by providing full severability.
