The program includes high risk properties, seasonal homes, brush areas, protection classes 1-10, older homes and homes with losses. High value homes can be written up to $25 million. Extended replacement cost and replacement cost on contents available. Risks with trampolines, dog bite claims, high profile and corporate ownership, fuses, woodstoves, wood roofs are accepted.

Workers’ Compensation in Alaska
and Hawaii

Nuts & Bolts: Statutory workers’ compensation, U.S. Longshore and Harbor Workers Act and Maritime employers’ liability coverage in Alaska and Hawaii and with supporting coverage in select other states is available from PointSure Insurance Services. Community Development Program

Nuts & Bolts: Gales Creek Insurance Services Inc. is offering its community development corporation program nationally. The GCIS policy includes: tax credit projects; automatic cover “for profit” subsidiaries; two-year rate guarantee; defense costs outside limits; automatic coverage for volunteers, trustees, committee members; employment-related practices liability including sexual harassment, discrimination and wrongful termination; defense of third party employment-related practices claims; amended bodily injury/property damage exclusion to create coverage for mental and emotional distress; outside directorship coverage; defense costs incurred by insuring contesting a claim for taxes/fines under Internal Revenue Serivce code; full prior acts and libel and slander coverage.

For consideration in the program, CDC’s must be affiliated with a national organization that works in the field or receive funding from such organizations as Enterprise, National Association of Community Action Agencies, Essex, Rural Community Assistance Corp., LISC, Neighbor Works of Neighborhood Reinvestment Corp., be related to a Municipal Housing Authority, or be a member of the state CDC trade association.

Small- to mid-size institutions are the company’s specialty. Limits for property, prefer values under $12 million with fine arts limited to $1 million.Higher deductibles may be required depending on values and susceptibility to wind and other catastrophic exposures.

Coverage extends to cover personal property while in use during the event, door registration receipts, and additional events. Coverage can include worldwide coverage, terrorism coverage options, indoor or outdoor, dedicated underwriting and service team.

Contractor’s Land Improvement Program

Nuts & Bolts: Crouse and Associates has introduced a land improvement program for small- to medium-sized residential and commercial contractors. Target classes include: concrete curbs, gutter and sidewalks, shipping docks and pads for electrical panel sheds (no residential pads), driveways, parking lots, street and road paving sewer and water main construction, or irrigations and drainage construction, septic tank systems, water well drilling, conduit construction for cables and wires, excavation jobs such as ditch digging, trenching, and also digging of small ponds on farms-along with support of any of the above operations. Grading of land: clearing and leveling of land activities at farmlands, commercial developments, site development for road building and finish grading.

Bed and Breakfast

Nuts & Bolts: Smith, Bell and Thompson (SBT) and SwissRe’s Commercial Insurance are offering a program for bed and breakfast accounts. The program is designed for the innkeeper industry. Target accounts include bed and breakfasts, country inns or cabin rentals. Bed and breakfasts serve only breakfast to overnight guests. A country inn serves breakfast to overnight guests, however, with a restaurant open to the public. The cabin rental is typically more than four habitational buildings located in close proximity on the same premises with one sleeping room per building and a common building where breakfast is served. These establishments are usually individually owned and operated; hotel/motel franchises and national or regional chains are not eligible.

Tuition Protector has been developed to provide comprehensive coverage for virtually any event that may cause a student’s withdrawal.
