Collectible Vehicles

Nuts& Bolts: Condon & Skelly, a provider of collectible vehicle insurance for more than 30 years, is now offering coverage in Texas, providing insurance for a wide range of vehicles including: Antique and classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, street rods, customs, modifieds and kit cars (including Cobras). Vehicles under active restoration, vintage fire trucks, farm tractors and military vehicles are also eligible for coverage. The features of the coverage include one liability premium no matter how many cars are insured, a 5,000 annual mileage allowance and agreed value coverage. Because drivers of collectible vehicles are among the safest drivers in the world, premiums can be as much as 60 percent less than standard auto insurance.

Dollars: Deductibles of $0, $250, $500 or $1,000 are available for authentic antique and specialty vehicles.

Workers’ Comp for Subcontractors

Nuts & Bolts: Texas Construction Trust has a workers’ compensation self-insurance trust for subcontractors throughout Texas. This trust allows members to own the workers’ comp insurance program and govern it by an elected board of trustees. It is managed by an experienced third party administrator with over 25 years in managing group self insured funds and audited by an independent firm.

Dollars: Statutory limits apply to the workers’ comp; EL is $1 million. There are specific, aggregate and excess deductibles available. Minimum premiums are $20,000.

Carrier: Midwest Employers Casualty Co. rated “A14,” admitted.

States Available: Texas.

Oil and Gas

Nuts and Bolts: American E&S has a new oil and gas insurance program focused on exploration and production companies. This new program features control of well insurance coverage at competitive rates, flexibility, and highly rated insurance carriers.

Carrier: Highly rated, nonadmitted.

States Available: All states plus Canada (onshore only).

Miscellaneous Coverages

Nuts & Bolts: AP Insurance expanded its writing territory by entering the state of Texas. It is a wholesale brokerage firm serving independent insurance agents and can be accessed directly from the Web or from an AMS System. It provides immediate response to submissions for a variety of products, including high value and specialty homeowners, workers’ compensation, personal umbrella, watercraft, BOP, builders’ risk, boiler and machinery, and non-profit D&O. AP is a Vertafore Company and a preferred partner of AMS and SilverPlume.

Dollars: Workers’ comp premiums are $3,500. Premiums and limits vary.

Carrier: A variety of carriers, including ACE, AIG, Fireman’s Fund, Lexington and others.

Employment Practices Liability Program

Nuts & Bolts: Arrowhead General Insurance Agency Inc.’s professional liability division (www.ArrowheadPro.com) launched an employment practices liability insurance program for small- and mid-market businesses in 47 states. Highlights of the program include coverage for full prior acts; specific coverage for employment claims arising out of company Internet and e-mail; and a broad wrongful employment act definition. Third-party discrimination coverage, including sexual harassment, is also available. The non-admitted (currently admitted only in New York) EPLI program offers an extension of coverage for the lawful spouse and has no exclusions for intentional acts, class action or downsizing. As part of the EPLI program, producers have free access to a third-party, flexible, online employment practices training tool.

Dollars: Limits from $250,000 up to $1 million, retentions from $2,500 up to $50,000 and minimum premiums starting at $1,750.

Carrier: Rated “A” by A.M. Best. Admitted in New York only.

States Available: Available in 47 states.

Sports Associations, Venues, Promoters and Events

Nuts & Bolts: SportsMax offers sports insurance for sports associations, venues, promoters and events, for a wide range of sports. SportsMax is a division of Gowrie, Barden and Brett. Program highlights include association liability, event liability, property packages, directors and officers liability, event cancellation, accident and health coverage.

Dollars: Premiums start at $2,500. Deductibles and limits vary.

Carrier: “A” rated carrier, admitted.

States Available: All.

Management Liability for Manufacturers

Nuts & Bolts: St. Paul Travelers launched a new management liability insurance program for members of the National Association of Manufacturers. The program is administered exclusively by Aon Association Services, a division of Aon’s Affinity Insurance Services Inc. The new NAM-sponsored insurance portfolio program provides management liability and crime coverage to manufacturers of all sizes. This program offers coverage to address directors’ and officers’ liability, employment practices and fiduciary liability, fidelity, and kidnap and ransom exposures. Qualified insureds also receive access to Risk Management PLUS Online, which offers tools to help employers manage and reduce their exposure to employment-related and/or fiduciary suits.

Dollars: No minimum premium or deductibles. Limits up to $10 million with $25 million available for larger groups.

Carrier: St. Paul/Travelers, “A+,” admitted.

States Available: All.
