The number of Georgia homes affected by recent flooding, according to the American Red Cross. The organization said an estimated 2,803 Georgia homes have been affected by the flooding. Of those homes, 745 are destroyed and 760 have major damage. State officials have estimated losses at about $500 million, with most of it not covered by insurance.

The owner says he’s struggling to get by after a city judge ordered him to pay the fine because the fire sprinkler system in his business was inoperable. If he fixes it, the money he spent will come off the fine.

The number of traffic accidents involving school buses that have occurred in Berkeley County, West Virginia since students returned to class, prompting officials to start a new bus safety campaign. None have caused serious injuries. No bus drivers have been found at fault, and most of the accidents involved a car rear-ending a bus.
