Estimated damage caused by a string of tornadoes that struck Suffolk, Virginia in late April, damaging more than 1,200 houses. Gov. Tim Kaine pledged to make available any state resource to help in the recovery effort.

Amount of damage caused by an early morning fire at Bayside Automotive, a Prince Frederick, Maryland car dealership. The blaze took about an hour for firefighters to bring under control and scorched the main showroom and five vehicles that belonged both to the dealership and to its customers.

Settlement reached in a discrimination suit filed against Delaware-based Conectiv Energy by four black workers in Pennsylvania who said they were subjected to racial slurs, Ku Klux Klan graffiti and a noose that was left hanging for more than a week. The men alleged the harassment took place in 2002 and 2003 on a construction site at the former Bethlehem Steel plant, where Conectiv was building a power plant.

Amount of a final settlement reached with the widow of Connecticut man who disappeared from a honeymoon cruise aboard a Royal Caribbean liner in July 2005. The settlement with Jennifer Hagel Smith was first reached with the cruise line in June 2006. Her late husband’s parents had contested the settlement, but it was finalized by a Greenwich probate judge earlier this month.
