Antelope, Calif. Man Faces Auto Fraud Charges

Rafael Gonzalez, 30, of Antelope, was arrested by the California Department of Insurance (CDI) Criminal Investigations Branch’s Fraud Division on two felony counts of insurance fraud.

Gonzalez purportedly reported his Acura Legend stolen on March 27, 2002 to the California Highway Patrol and Allstate Insurance Company. Gonzalez claimed his vehicle was equipped with after-market tires and rims worth approximately $2,400. The investigation revealed Gonzalez allegedly never purchased the tires and rims and submitted a receipt that did not belong to him. To date, the Acura Legend has not been recovered.

If convicted, Gonzalez could face up to five years in state prison and/or a maximum fine of $50,000.
