Rent-a-fraud
Michael Vannostran, 24, surrendered to an arrest warrant filed by the Orange County (Calif.) District Attorney’s Office for two counts of insurance fraud. Vannostran posted $10,000 bail at the Department H2 Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.
Vannostran allegedly submitted bogus receipts to his insurance company for car rental services that he claimed to have utilized on two different occasions while his own vehicle was being repaired due to damage from a collision which had rendered his car inoperable.
Investigators from the CDI discovered that Vannostran was working as an assistant manager for Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Lake Forest at the time he submitted the receipts to the Interinsurance Exchange of the Automobile Club of Southern California. Vannostran allegedly created the false receipts using Enterprise Rent-A-Car invoices to claim a total of $1,670 from the Automobile Club. Adjusters noted the irregularities in the claim and withdrew payment.
