No More Waiting for This Ringleader
On Aug. 29, former attorney Manny Lee Kreitenberg of Beverly Hills was sentenced to 10 years in state prison on one felony count of conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and 13 counts of insurance fraud. In addition, the 45-year-old man was ordered to pay $26,000 in fines and $152,000 to a victim restitution fund.
As the ringleader of an organized group of doctors, lawyers, “cappers,” and DMV personnel, Kreitenberg took a pivotal role in the criminal conspiracy. The group targeted the elderly by setting them up in staged collisions and subjecting them to bodily injury. The defendants would intentionally slam on their brakes, causing rear end collisions, and in some cases, they would steal cash or credit cards from their victims while exchanging insurance information.
It is estimated that Kreitenberg’s group staged hundreds of traffic collisions and collected more than $5 million in fraudulent claims.
