A Mover and a Shaker
Sandra Leah Babcock of Sacramento was arrested for workersÕ comp fraud.
The 45-year-old woman was an office worker for Mercury Insurance Company in Sacramento. On March 1, 1997, Babcock reportedly injured her neck and back while carrying a box of files. Following the injury, she filed a workersÕ comp claim with her employerÕs insurer, Superior National Insurance.
During medical appointments and in depositions, Babcock claimed she was unable to bend, twist or squat without pain, however, investigators learned that she was observed riding a Jet Ski at full speed and jumping boat wakes. As a result of BabcockÕs fraudulent claim, Superior National paid out more than $25,000 in benefits.
