Homes Damaged, Destroyed by Severe Storms in Arkansas
Three homes were damaged and another was destroyed in northwest Arkansas when severe weather swept through the area late on March 23.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says damage was reported in Evansville, which is about 35 miles west of Fayetteville near the state’s border with Oklahoma. The sheriff’s office says one person was treated for minor cuts, but no other injuries have been reported.
Washington County was under a tornado warning but at press time it had not been confirmed whether a tornado caused the damage.
Arkansas was raked earlier in the month by a fast-moving storm system that brought rain and hail across the state. It’s believed that three to five tornadoes touched down in the state in the mid-March storm system. No injuries or deaths were reported, but seven or eight homes were damaged and one was destroyed near Winfield. Docks were damaged at the Mountain Harbor Resort and Spa near Mount Ida.
