Roach Howard Smith & Barton Founder, Richard H. Roach
Texas-based insurance firm, Roach Howard Smith & Barton (RHSB), recently announced that founding partner Richard H. Roach has passed away.
Expressing “deep sorrow and condolences to Richard’s family and friends,” the company said:
“Richard was not only RHSB’s founder and leader for more than 40 years, but he was a mentor and role model for many still with our firm today and to many across the industry. He was passionate about our business and about the well-being of the individuals, families and organizations we serve. To Richard, stewardship was more of an art than a science. He taught us to be creative and innovative in our thinking, but always for the benefit of our customers.
“He unselfishly gave of his time taking on leadership roles of numerous industry and civic organizations. He served as President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas, Chairman of Assurex Global, Chairman of the Baptist Church Loan Corporation, the Baylor University Development Council and Baylor Hankamer School of Business Advisory Board, and President of the North Texas Municipal Water District, an organization he served for 39 years. Richard also served his community as a Garland City Councilman for two terms.
“The consummate professional, Richard treated everyone with dignity and respect. He was a true gentleman who instilled a set of values that will continue to guide our company now and into the future. Richard will be missed but remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.”
A memorial service was held for Richard H. Roach on Feb. 9 in Garland, Texas.
