Couple Sues Six Flags in Central California for Retaliation
Two former employees have sued Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Central California, saying they were fired as retaliation for raising animal welfare concerns.
Michael and Holley Muraco have filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the Vallejo park. The suit says Michael Muraco was the park’s director of animal care when he told the U.S. Department of Agriculture about poor water quality in the Six Flag dolphin pools.
A USDA inspection report from 2014 supported Muraco’s concern that the poor water quality was related to the deaths of two infant dolphins and chronic health problems in adult dolphins. Six Flags did not return calls seeking comment.
The park has said conditions are safe for animals and that the suit has no merit.
