October 5, 2015

Farmers Insurance, which began providing insurance and financial services to Connecticut consumers on Jan. 1, 2015, announced the opening of the company’s first territory office in the state.

The new office, located in Danbury, Connecticut, opened its doors with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 16. The Los Angeles-headquartered Farmers Insurance said the new Connecticut facility will house 25 full-time employees, who will oversee the recruitment and training of prospective new agency owners.

A Farmers Insurance spokesperson said there are currently 23 agents appointed in Connecticut.

“The Danbury, Connecticut, territory office is here to support the growth and development of our agents,” said David Lamorte, state director of New York and Connecticut for Farmers Insurance. “Our team of subject matter experts are ready to help our entrepreneurial agents by providing training, marketing support and business consultation.”

Lamorte also said Farmers Insurance is continuing to grow on the East Coast.

Beginning in 2011, Farmers began an effort to expand its presence along the Eastern Seaboard. The insurer opened new offices in Pennsylvania in 2011, followed by New Jersey later in the year. In 2012, it opened operations in Georgia and Maryland. Farmers first entered the New York marketplace in 2013 and opened its Rochester, New York, territory office in 2014.
