Boston-Based Online Agency Goji to Add 115 Employees

October 5, 2015

Goji, a Boston-based independent online insurance agency, said it plans to add some 115 new employees during the next 12 months.

Goji, known as Consumer United until last year, had approximately 300 workers as recently as one year ago but the number of employees has since declined to some 235 because of natural attrition in the call center, the firm said.

Steve Kezirian, who joined Goji as its new CEO this past June, says the firm plans to resume growth and increase the number of employees to 350 over the next year. Goji plans to add employees in sales (licensed insurance agents), marketing, technology and product.

Goji also said it is moving its Westborough, Massachusetts-based call center to a new, larger facility in Hudson, Massachusetts. The new Hudson office will be home to many of Goji’s licensed insurance agents, along with new additions to the technology and management teams.

Goji was established in 2007 and currently partners with 16 carriers including Progressive, Travelers, Safeco and Esurance. Goji is backed by Spark Capital, Thayer Street Partners, Bain Capital Ventures, and Five Elms Capital. The firm’s services are offered in 41 states and as of last October, it served 300,000 customers.
