$2.25M Additional Claims Payments Recovered in Louisiana in First Half of 2014
Consumers who filed complaints were helped by Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI) to recover an additional $2.25 million in insurance payments during the first half of 2014.
Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon said the funds are in addition to the original amounts offered to consumers by their insurance companies and are the result of LDI staff working with insurance companies to resolve the complaints.
The department also launched a new online system for consumers to check the status of their complaints, according to Donelon.
Funds recovered are from formal complaints regarding property and casualty, health, and life and annuities products. The property/casualty sector received the most complaints during the time period and paid out the most in additional claims.
