Michigan Man Says Insurance Won’t Cover Bullet Damage

A northern Lower Michigan man is upset insurance doesn’t cover the damage done to his mobile home during a neighbor’s shootout with police.

Lance Reed said he’s already spent $1,500 on repairs to five bullet holes at his home in Grawn, and he doesn’t have the money to pay for the necessary fixes.

According to Reed, Auto-Owners Insurance told him bullet damage doesn’t fit into the perils outlined in his policy. They include fire, smoke, flood, windstorm, riot or civil commotion, vandalism or mischief, damage by burglary, aircraft and vehicle damage.
