Alabama Senior Driver Credits
Alabama senior citizens will have easier access to courses that can qualify them for automobile insurance premium credits under a new state law that allows them to take the courses online.
The courses test older drivers’ eyesight and offer refresher courses on driving regulations and defensive driving. The new law lets drivers 55 and older take the courses online or in a classroom.
In addition, state lawmakers reduced the number of hours seniors need to qualify for the credit from eight hours to six.
According to the Insurance Information Institute, 33 states and the District of Columbia have state-mandated discounts for senior who complete approved courses.
