Former Agent Ends His Second Career as Florida Gators’ ‘Two Bits’ Cheerleader
After more than 50 years of urging on Florida football fans, one the Gators most enthusiastic supporters is retiring.
George E. Edmondson Jr., a retired insurance agent who is known to UF fans as Mr. Two-Bits, says Florida’s 70-19 win over The Citadel last month was his last game as the alter ego.
Since 1949, Edmondson has led Florida fans in the cheer:
“Two bits, four bits, six bits, a dollar… all for the Gators stand up and holler!”
For each game, he wore an orange and blue tie, yellow oxford-cloth shirt, khaki pants and saddle shoes.
Edmondson, 86, says he’ll still attend Florida home games with his wife, but will be watching from the stands.
