Austin, Texas-based Medicus Insurance appointed John Flanagan as its new Regional Market manager for the Midwest. Flanagan will be based in Chicago. Flanagan brings over five years of experience in the professional liability industry to his new role as business development leader in the Midwest.
Before joining Medicus, he worked for Arthur J. Gallagher Co. as assistant vice president of Midwest Healthcare Practice.
Medicus currently insures doctors in Illinois, Texas, Missouri and Nevada. The company offers malpractice insurance to physicians, surgeons and related medical service providers.
Farmington Hills, Mich.-based Burns & Wilcox announced that Steve Liverance has joined the company as director of Talent Acquisition. Liverance is responsible for developing and implementing a company-wide recruiting strategy that attracts and retains highly motivated candidates to Burns & Wilcox.
He also is responsible for candidate sourcing, assessment and selection as well as the on-boarding process and new employee orientation for the company’s 36 offices.
Previously, Liverance was director of recruiting at EDS in Troy, Mich. He spent 18 years at EDS holding many positions including regional recruiting director, regional campus relations manager and senior recruiter.
St. Paul, Minn.-based Securian Financial Services, Inc. has named Suzanne M. Chochrek vice president, Business and Market Development. Securian Financial Services Inc., is the broker-dealer for Securian Financial Group Inc.
Chochrek has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Most recently, she was director, Client Segment Strategies, at RBC Dain Rauscher. She also held positions with Edward Jones and Stifel, Nicolaus. Securian Financial Group Inc. provides individuals and businesses insurance, retirement plans and investments.
Colemont Insurance Brokers added Paul Long as vice president and broker in the company’s Chicago office. Long specializes in property and inland/ocean marine insurance.
Long brings over 20 years of experience to this his new position having worked for AmWINS, Swett & Crawford, and Lloyd’s of London, where he gained experience as both a producer and underwriter. He joined Colemont in July 2007.
Dan H. Wilson, president and chief executive officer of Belron US Inc., announced the promotion of Rich Harrison to chief operations officer and senior vice president of Belron US. In his new role, Harrison will assume executive management responsibility for the company’s field sales and retail vehicle glass repair and replacement businesses, including its wholesale and warehouse operations.
Belron US Inc., a subsidiary of Belron S.A., is a multi-faceted automotive glass and claims management service organization based in Columbus, Ohio.
Peoria, Ill.-based RLI Corp. added Brian Flynn as vice president, Miscellaneous Professional Liability, for its Executive Products Group (EPG). Flynn will be responsible for the underwriting and management of EPG’s MPL business on a nationwide basis.
Flynn comes to RLI’s EPG from Ace Insurance Group, where he spent the last seven years in various underwriting and management roles. Flynn will be based in the group’s Summit, N.J., office.
Zurich named Steven Bauman as the leader of the team developing captive strategy for Zurich’s Global Corporate in Schaumburg, Ill.-based North America unit.
He will be based in New York City and will report to Mario Vitale, CEO of Zurich Global Corporate in North America.
Bauman has more than 20 years of experience in corporate insurance and captive services on both the broker and company sides, most recently as senior vice president of Aon’s Captive Services Group. He previously was a member of the Marsh, Winterthur Group and XL Global teams. Bauman is a founding member of the Captive Insurance Council of the District of Columbia Inc., and is a member of the Vermont Captive Insurance Association.
Higginbotham & Associates hired property and casualty broker C. Adam Smith, who relocated from Springfield, Mo., as a commercial account executive at the agency’s Austin, Texas, office.
With more than 12 years in sales, seven of which in insurance brokerage and risk management, Smith was most recently an account/sales executive at Empire Insurance in Springfield. He has also worked in sales at Rabsamen Insurance and Barker Phillips Jackson Insurance, both Springfield-based agencies.
At Higginbotham, Smith will build a commercial property and casualty book of business with a focus on construction and transportation accounts.
Chicago-based Aon Risk Services, the retail brokerage and risk management arm of Aon Corp. , announced that John G. Willett has joined the company’s Boston office as managing director. He is a member of the leadership team and responsible for new client acquisition for the New England region. In addition, he will focus on real estate related business in conjunction with the Aon national real estate practice.
Willett joins Aon after seven years at Lexington Insurance and American International Group, where he held several positions including director of marketing, national real estate practice leader for AIG, and president of the AI Risk Specialists Division. He previously held leadership positions in two large regional insurance brokerage operations in Massachusetts.
