N.Y. Senate confirms Dinallo as insurance superintendent

The New York State Senate has confirmed Governor Eliot Spitzer’s nomination of Eric Dinallo as the new superintendent of the New York State Insurance Department. He has been serving as acting superintendent since January 2007.

Dinallo joined the department from Willis Group Holdings. Since 2006, he had been general counsel for the company.

Dinallo worked with Spitzer from 1999 to 2003, during which time he headed an investigation into investment research firms for potential conflicts of interest.

In 2003, he joined Morgan Stanley’s regulatory affairs department, and in March, 2006 moved to Willis.

Dinallo is a graduate of Vassar College and New York University School of Law.

He replaces Howard Mills.
