White to Head New Swett & Crawford Specialty Division
Professional liability insurance is certainly no stranger to Jason White, managing director of Swett & Crawford Professional Services Group. The 37-year-old White, who has spearheaded the efforts of the new division, will personally write approximately $80 million in premium for E&O, D&O, EPLI and healthcare related risks this year alone. His success has been so well-known throughout the industry that fellow colleagues have even referred to White as a bit of a “star in the insurance business.”
White attributes his success to the basic premise of responsiveness, as well as taking the duty bestowed upon him by retailers to perform—and perform well—very seriously.
When asked why he chose to lead SCPSG, White replied, that he saw an opportunity to duplicate his success company-wide while maximizing what Swett can offer to retailers nationwide. “Jason’s long experience with financial services risks, and his reputation in the industry as an expert in this challenging area, made him the ideal professional to steer this initiative,” said Thomas Comer, president and CEO of Swett & Crawford.
Despite White’s new leadership role at SCPSG, he plans to continue running his own book of business. “Fortunately, I have a great staff that does a very good job,” White said. “The key to my ability to step into this kind of a leadership role is in part attributable to the excellent support staff that works with me.”
White began his insurance career with C.T. Bowring Ltd., a London specialty broker and in 1991 joined the financial services unit of Swett & Crawford. In October 1996, White was named an assistant vice president and manager of the financial services unit in Swett & Crawford’s Los Angeles office. In August 1997, he became senior vice president.
He is a graduate of the University of California, Riverside, is a frequent speaker on financial services coverages and risks at employer and industry symposia and is an active member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS).
