Dallas Agents Prepare For All Industry Day

November 20, 2000

The Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas and the Dallas Chapter of the Society of CPCU will host its 10th annual All Industry Day on Nov. 21 at the Hotel Inter-Continental in north Dallas. Over 55 exhibitors are expected, as are 1,000 participants, making the event the largest one-day trade show in the Southwest. Kaj Alhmann, vice president of E.W. Blanch Holdings, will begin the day’s education line up with a discussion on the “State of the Insurance Industry Today.”

He will be followed by a panel discussion on “Cybercrime in Insurance,” which will include experts from the United States Department of Justice, the FBI and the Texas Attorney General’s office. The panelists will share their experiences in what is becoming one of the world’s fastest growing criminal arenas. The seminar has been approved for 2.5 hours of CETIAA credit. The luncheon will feature Tracy Rowlett, news anchor for the local CBS affiliate, who has spent the last 25 years as an anchor and managing editor.

The afternoon educational seminar, in keeping with the cyber theme, will cover “Cyber Exposures and Coverages.” Phil Hoyt, vice president of Technology Risk Solutions of AIG, will discuss court cases dealing with e-commerce in addition to exposures and coverages. He will also talk about existing insurance inadequacies and about forms being developed to combat these issues. The seminar has been approved for 1.5 hours of CETIAA credit.
