Variety is the Spice of Life
Being on the editorial side of things here at Insurance Journal Southeast, one never knows what will be coming across their desk on a given day.
This issue, as with all publications we put out, has a bit of something for everyone. It also can be said that this issue also packs a little heavyweight political punch to it.
We continue to go after the big political names and this time around we landed a Q&A with North Carolina Senator Elizabeth Dole.
The former head of the American Red Cross and experienced issues provider to several U.S. Presidents, Dole discusses in an e-mail interview medical malpractice, helping North Carolina residents when disaster strikes, and more.
Page to the back of the issue and you will find another familiar face in Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
Brother of the 43rd President of the U.S. and son of the 41st, Bush offers his views in our “Parting Shots” column on health savings accounts and how the Sunshine State has dealt with them.
Now, before the Democratic National Committee threatens to turn my computer off, we are actively seeking Democratic governors and senators to sit down with IJ for interviews. I guarantee you that you will see their faces in issues to come.
This issue will be distributed at the Florida Association of Insurance Agents (FAIA) 100th anniversary (June 17-19) in Orlando, and hats off to that group for its work and dedication to the industry. To be around 100 years in any pursuit and be effective and continue to grow is quite an accomplishment.
Meantime, the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina (IIANC) are holding their Young Agents Conference June 13-15 in Wrightsville Beach, and we also applaud them for all the work they do to further the cause of independent agents in the Tar Heel State.
Having mentioned the IIANC, kudos to them for their recent campaign to send goods to the troops in Iraq. As noted in our May 17 issue, the association, along with independent agencies and companies around North Carolina packaged goods to be sent overseas.
Whether you support the decision to go to war or not, priority number one is seeing that the troops protecting our freedoms in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere are not forgotten. More information on this campaign is available by calling Caryn Young at (888) 277-6340.
So thanks for reading Insurance Journal Southeast and be assured that your respective political leaders may very well find their way onto our pages.
We hope you enjoy your latest issue, and we’ll talk to you soon.
