Program Directory, Round Two

April 19, 2004 by

Welcome to our Annual Program Directory, Volume II. It seems like only yesterday that I was writing the Editors Note for Volume I, but here we are again with new and improved program listings in one of our biggest directories yet.

In this issue, our feature story, Who (Almost) Murdered the Program? by David Morse, examines the way claims operations are handled in the program business industry and the negative effects it has had on the market over the past couple of years.

The culprit? Well, we’ll let you make the final decision, but it’s Morse’s opinion that blame often lies with the claims administrator. According to Morse, the claims administrator’s decisions regarding personnel, adjuster workloads and claims best practices can make or break a program’s loss ratio. Their decisions play a vital role in determining the future health of a program—positive or negative.

Morse also examines six areas of possible leakage due to poor claims handling, and what you can do about each one to bring your program back to life.

So that being said, flip to page IV and use Morse’s clues to figure out for yourself just who (almost) killed the program business.

Now for some one-stop shopping, turn to page XXVII to find out which companies are offering the coverage for the programs you need.

Our program directory is compiled with information companies voluntarily provide us for selected classes of business they cover. And for those of you who need a reminder, a program is a group of coverages offered for one specific class of business, i.e. convenience stores, auto body shops, tanning salons, etc.

So, take advantage of our latest directory listings and find the coverage you need now. The print directory is designed to be a resource for you to refer to year round. And you can always log on to www.insurancejournal.com/directories for access to all of our directories.

We hope you find this resource useful. If there’s any way we can improve, please let us know.
