TRIA Renewal

—Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy on the reauthorization of Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA). The 114th Congress this month voted overwhelmingly for a six-year reauthorization of the terrorism reinsurance program that had been allowed to lapse. President Obama signed the reauthorization bill into law on Jan. 12.

Uber Boiseans

—Uber spokesman Michael Amodeo expressed the ridesharing giant’s disappointment in a cease and desist letter to Boise, Idaho, officials issued on New Year’s Eve, the same day the ride-hailing app declared would be its busiest night ever for those seeking a car home.

A Huge Success

—Jay Adams, chief of claims for Florida’s Citizens Property Insurance Corp., on the company’s efforts to reduce a backlog of more than 2,400 litigated sinkhole claims. As of Dec. 15, 2014, Citizens had reached settlement agreements with 1,669 policyholders over the sinkhole claims.

No End to Epidemic
