—Former Missouri Gov. Roger Wilson, after pleading guilty on April 12 to a misdemeanor charge stemming from a $5,000 donation to the Missouri Democratic Party while he was interim chief executive at Missouri Employers Mutual Insurance Co. Wilson admitted his involvement in a scheme to hide the cost of the donation in legal bills submitted to the insurer by St. Louis lawyer Edward Griesedieck III in October 2009.

—Dennis Adkins, a resident of the Chicago suburb of Orland Park, sued Nestle Purina Petcare Co. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc., after his dog died from eating chicken jerky treats that he says the defendants knew posed a substantial risk of illness or death. Adkins said he was not aware of U.S. Food and Drug Administration warnings about dog illnesses associated with chicken jerky products from China, nor did he see warnings on Waggin’ Train’s website, until after his 9-year-old Pomeranian, Cleopatra, became sick.
