Risk Strategies, a Boston, Mass.-based national specialty insurance brokerage and risk management firm, has acquired Specialty Insurance Solutions.
SIS offers specialty products and services primarily focused on student health insurance programs, sport accident insurance and student travel insurance.
The acquisition of SIS builds on Risk Strategies’ long-term focus and growth in the education industry, according to a Risk Strategies press release.
Gallagher Bassett Services, Terrier Claims Services
Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.’s risk management services subsidiary, Gallagher Bassett Services Inc., has acquired Pleasantville, N.Y.-based Terrier Claims Services Inc. and its affiliate, MT Investigations LLC.
TCS is a claims investigation firm dedicated exclusively to insurance defense, third-party administrators, defense attorneys and government agencies.
Daniel Sullivan, Edward Sullivan, David Perini and their associates will remain in their current locations in Pleasantville, Albany and Mineola, New York; Wall, New Jersey; and Philadelphia, under the direction of Jim Bond, executive vice president of Gallagher Bassett Technical Services.

The Hilb Group LLC has acquired Connecticut-based Andrews Benefits LLC.
AB is an employee benefits agency providing strategies and long-term solutions for clients in a variety of industries. As part of the transaction, AB Principals Christine and Peter Andrews and their team will join the Hilb New England region.
THG is a property/casualty and employee benefits insurance brokerage and advisory firm headquartered in Richmond, Virginia.
NFP, First Person
Insurance broker NFP has acquired Indianapolis, Ind.-based employee benefits brokerage, First Person Inc.
First Person specializes in group benefits. First Person has been closely affiliated with NFP for over 20 years as a member of Benefits Partners, one of NFP’s membership organizations. First Person’s founder, Bryan Brenner, will continue to serve clients at NFP as a managing director.
Headquartered in New York, NFP provides specialized property/casualty, corporate benefits, retirement, and individual solutions through its licensed subsidiaries and affiliates.
Emerson Reid, May Insurance Services
Emerson Reid LLC, an employee benefits wholesale general agent, has acquired Columbus, Ohio-based employee benefits services firm, May Insurance Services Inc., led by John May.
May Insurance Services works with agents throughout Ohio. The company specializes in medical, dental, disability and other ancillary insurance for individuals, businesses and seniors.
As part of the acquisition, May Insurance Services and its employees became a part of Emerson Reid family of companies.
G2 Insurance Services, Schroeder Group
San Francisco-based insurance brokerage firm G2 Insurance Services LLC has acquired the assets of Schroeder Group Inc., an independent insurance brokerage firm in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Schroeder Group specializes in equine mortality, farm and ranch, agribusiness, sports and personal insurance.
The Schroeder team will continue to operate out of their current office.
Alera Group, Direct Benefits
Alera Group, a national insurance and wealth management firm in Deerfield, Ill., has acquired Direct Benefits Inc., located in Saint Paul, Minn.
Direct Benefits specializes in insuring individuals, families, retirees and small businesses.
The Direct Benefits team will continue serving clients in its existing roles.
Ramsey-Weeks Insurance, First MainStreet
Ramsey-Weeks Insurance in Grinnell, Iowa, has merged with First MainStreet Insurance L.C., an affiliate of TrueNorth Companies L.C.
Ramsey-Weeks is led by Jim Ramsey and Darcy Swick. Paul Pohlson remains active in the business. A former Big I President, Pohlson will continue to focus on his clients.
Higginbotham, Haik Insurance
Fort Worth, Texas-based independent insurance and financial services firm, Higginbotham, has partnered with Haik Insurance, an independent broker in Lafayette, La., to establish Higginbotham’s third office in Louisiana.
With the transaction, Haik Insurance becomes a Higginbotham company.
Higginbotham named Haik Insurance President Christopher Haik a managing director. He will continue leading his namesake agency with the existing workforce of 12.

SURE is a new property/casualty reciprocal exchange. SURE coverage will be distributed exclusively by SageSure’s growing network of agents and brokers.
