Berkshire Insurance Group Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hills Bancorp, Inc. in Pittsfield, Mass., acquired MacDonald & Johnson, Inc., a property and casualty insurance agency in East Longmeadow, Mass. and Onofrey Insurance and Financial Services Inc., a life, disability and health insurance agency located in Springfield, Mass.
Van Aartrijk I-Marketing Management
The van Aartrijk Group LLC, a Virginia-based marketing communications firm, rolled out I-Marketing Management, which will tailor consumer marketing plans for independent insurance agencies and brokers. I-Marketing Management services include marketing planning and execution, advertising and direct mail creative, co-op advertising support, online strategy, public relations, and plan-effectiveness measurement. Laurie Donohue will serve as executive director of I-Marketing Management. Donohue was communications manager for The Main Street America Group.
The SAN Group, a network of independent insurance agencies in New England and New York, grew by eight members during the third quarter. SAN now has more than 180 independent agencies writing more than $275 million in property and casualty premium. The following agencies joined SAN in the third quarter: Boltz Insurance Service of Seneca, N.Y. (Chris Boltz); Charter Oak Casualty Group LLC in Milford, Conn. (Robert Moyer); Lockwood Agency Inc. of Jamestown, N.Y. (Dave and Mark Lockwood); McLaughlin Associates in Madison, Conn. (Peter McLaughlin); Selk Family & Business Insurance of West Seneca, N.Y. (Terry Selk); Tony Kasinskas Insurance Agency in Billerica, Mass. (Tony Kasinskas); South Towns Able Group Inc. of Hamburg, N.Y. (Tim Overdorf) and William Davis Agency of Niagara Falls, N.Y. (William Davis).
NSM Insurance, Reich Associates
NSM Insurance Group of Conshohocken, Pa. acquired the coastal condominium, hotel and motel insurance program of Reich Insurance Associates. CHAMP, as the program is known, offers coverages packaged in one policy form for buildings, wind damage, boiler and machinery, contents, general liability, business income, crime, and directors and officers. Flood coverage is also available. Barry Reich, president of Reich Insurance Associates, is staying on with as the director of new business opportunities.
Alliance Bank, Danaher Insurance
Alliance Bank Corp., a subsidiary of Alliance Bankshares Corp., is buying Danaher Insurance Agency of Annandale, Virginia in an all cash transaction. Danaher Insurance sells insurance to a small and middle market businesses and consumers. It will become Alliance Insurance Corporation. Thomas Danaher, current president of the agency, will become president of Alliance Insurance Corp.

Gencorp Insurance Group added to its family of independent insurance agencies. Newest to the group are Northeast Insurance, with offices in Needham, Auburn and Falmouth, Mass; HG Financial, New York, N.Y.; Mansfield Insurance Agency, Westerly, R.I.; Karl Crowell Insurance, Plymouth, Mass.; C&S Insurance, Mansfield, Mass.; Sandpiper Insurance Agency, Hyannis, Mass.; Pike Insurance, Orleans, Mass.; Thomas Carroll Insurance, Auburn, Mass.; Amaral & Gallagher Insurance, Stoughton, Mass.; Degnan Insurance Agency, Lawrence, Mass.; and Employers Group Inc., Fitchburg, Mass.
