Brian Maynard Appointed Kentucky Insurance Commissioner
Brian Maynard of Louisville was appointed commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Insurance on Jan. 12.
Gov. Matt Bevin, who took over in December, appointed Maynard by executive order. He is now a member of the Public Protection Cabinet, which is led by Secretary David Dickerson.
As a certified financial examiner, he has approximately 30 years of insurance accounting experience, 16 in the industry and 14 on the regulatory side.
Maynard is a graduate of the University of Louisville with a degree in accounting. In addition to being a certified financial examiner, he also received the AIRC (Associate, Insurance Regulatory Compliance) designation from LOMA (formerly the Life Office Management Association), an international trade association for the insurance and financial services industry.
